Top Ten Must-Have PC Games

Just a fast and dirty piece. Would like to blog longer about other things too, but.. seeing how it's been a terrible day and such (especially with the weather lately), I think I won't be ranting and complaining here just yet.

Anyway, seeing how there are such a huge plethora of games to be had for the PC lately, I have yet to sate my desire for gaming with all of them. In order from the Not-So Wanted to the Most Wanted, here are my Top Ten Must-Have PC Games (note: images link to Wikipedia's articles about each game). So, move over, DotA! Here comes the real deal.

#10: Starcraft 2
The successor to undoubtedly one of the greatest sci-fi strategy games of all time, Starcraft 2 has been long enough in the making (considering the original game came out 10 years ago). With awesome graphics and a completely new storyline to boot, this is one game that just screams to be played - over and over again.

#09: Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
The expansion pack to the wildly successful strategy game, Opposing Fronts focuses on WWII from the British and German Panzer points of view, offering oodles of new gameplay options and strategies, as well as two new campaigns to play from the two sides' perspectives.

#08: Supreme Commander
One of the greatest, most demanding strategy games of all time, Supreme Commander tells the tale of an intergalactic war of mammoth proportions among three splintered factions. And boy, does this game deliver 'mammoth'! Maps are sprawling vistas where literally hundreds of units do battle at any one time! The sheer scale of this game is mind-boggling and definitely an attraction for those with the PC to support it!

#07: Half-Life 2: Episode 2
Yet another well-executed, beautiful work of a game. Half-Life 2 set the benchmark as one of the best FPS games of all time with its incredibly realistic models of people, impressive physics system and eye-popping graphics. Episode 2 continues the saga of Gordon Freeman and his allies in the wake of the destruction of City 17's Citadel, and the eruption of all-out conflict between the Combine and the Human Resistance.

#06: Bioshock
The tragic tale of an underwater utopia that's gone to hell; what went wrong with the city of Rapture? Bioshock is a fascinating FPS that draws you into a bleak world of violence and a scientific experiment gone horribly wrong that features various innovative gameplay options. Be forewarned, however: this disturbing game is not for the faint of heart.

#05: Need for Speed: Prostreet
Unlike Carbon and Most Wanted, Prostreet focuses on legitimate racing; more specifically, a racing competition that takes place in racing locales around the world as racers vie for the title of the Number One street racer in the world! Prostreet boasts dynamic damage that affects car performance, as well as your standard racing modes.

#04: Halo 2
The sequel to the critically-acclaimed Halo: Combat Evolved adds many new improvements, weapons and enemies to the Halo universe not found in the first game. #03: Gears of War
Finally, one of the goriest games of all time makes the jump to the PC! This game is responsible for implementing a solid combat system that is being emulated by many other games even today, and boasts five additional levels exclusive to the PC version!

#02: World in Conflict
Wrongly classified as a real-time strategy game, World in Conflict is a real-time tactical game unlike any other! Taking place in an alternate reality where the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States developed into World War Three, the United States are confident they can win the war - until the Soviet Navy makes landfall in Seattle! Intense fighting follows throughout, guaranteeing this game a place in many gamers' hearts (mine too!) as one of the toughest, most realistic war games of all time.

#01: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
The renowned Call of Duty series finally sheds its WWII heritage for a more modern outlook! Join the United States and its allies in a hectic battle worldwide against a terrorist group with a deadly agenda! Easily one of the most intense FPS games I have ever seen, Call of Duty 4 boasts superb graphics, great gameplay and an even more enthralling storyline that will immediately have you hooked.

All in all, 10 wonderful, classy games that definitely should be on your list to play, should you haven't. So get out there and go get 'em!
